Overview
The Darney/Landy Fellow position is a one-year, post- Complex Family Planning Fellowship placement for obstetrician-gynecologists that honors the clinical excellence of Phil Darney, MD, and the collaborative advocacy of Uta Landy, PhD. This position offers individuals the opportunity to influence and support the advancement of ACOG’s clinical guidance and programmatic work on abortion, contraception, and early pregnancy loss; develop a deep knowledge of and relationship with ACOG; cultivate networks within the family planning community and other subspecialties; and build advocacy, leadership and management skills.
The deadline for applications is October 4, 2024. Appointment start date is flexible but should ideally begin on or before September 2025. This position is contingent on 2025-2026 funding.

Responsibilities
• Serve as an internal clinical consultant and family planning content expert as needed by divisions and departments across ACOG, including the Practice Division, Government Affairs, Legal, and Communications.
• Provide clinical expertise and comment, as needed, for externally facing media and other inquiries, including responding to interview and other media requests.
• Participate in relevant Committee and Work Group meetings, including the Committee on Advancing Equity in Obstetric and Gynecologic Care, the Contraceptive Equity Expert Work Group, and the Abortion Access and Training Expert Work Group; assist with document and resource development and review, literature reviews, and implementation activities.
• Serve as a clinical expert and trainer for departmental training initiatives on a variety of topics, including immediate postpartum LARC, manual vacuum aspiration, medication abortion, and effective conversations about abortion.
• Provide periodic briefings for ACOG staff, leadership, and partner organizations on emergent issues in reproductive health care.
• Support efforts to develop ACOG members into formidable physician advocates and leaders.
• Represent ACOG at professional meetings, conferences, coalitions, and events related to reproductive health care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communications with the ability to communicate concepts in an understandable and concise way.
• Excellent judgement and high emotional intelligence, particularly in dealing with controversial issues or uncertainty.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to work on multiple projects and stay within scope, schedule, cost, and quality specifications.
• Prior collaboration with ACOG staff and/or leadership at the national, district or section level preferred.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or other related software.
Education and Experience:
• MD or DO degree and board-certified or board-eligible in obstetrics and gynecology.
• Graduate of the Complex Family Planning Fellowship/Fellowship in Family Planning.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Compensation
The base salary for this position is $175,000 - $180,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, ACOG offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes the perks outlined below.
