How You Will Make an Impact: The role of a Patient Benefits Coordinator is pivotal within the Revenue Cycle Management team, actively contributing to the coordination of financial aspects crucial to patient care. Collaborating with team members, this role focuses on enhancing the financial journey for patients. By meticulously outlining patients' financial situations, the Coordinator ensures comprehensive understanding of financial and insurance components. Proactively facilitating timely payments from patients or their insurance providers, this role is vital in ensuring smooth financial transactions. Serving as a reliable resource, they offer ongoing support and clarity on financial matters through telephone and portal communications, fostering accessibility for patients.

What You Will Do: The Patient Benefits Verification Coordinator conducts insurance and benefit verifications before New Patient appointments and treatment cycles, ensuring accurate input of insurance benefits into the practice management system. They also manage insurance changes for patients throughout their care, update insurance attachments on patient charts, and maintain knowledge of pre-certification requirements for each patient's insurance policy and payer.

  • Insurance and benefit verifications prior to the New Patient (NP) appointments and priorto the start of any treatment cycle.
  • Ensure insurance benefits have been input into the practice management system.
  • For patients that have a change in insurance during their course of care, re-verify orcause to have re-verified, the patient’s insurance, and input the result of same into thepractice management system.
  • Ensure that insurance is attached on the chart level for all patients; for existing patientswith a change in insurance, ensure that a change of insurance attachment on the chart levelhas been performed.
  • For each patient assigned to the team, know the pre-certification requirements of thepatient’s insurance policy and payer.
  • Perform pre-certifications or pre-authorizations and determine patient responsibility amounts based on the pre-certification performed.
  • Ensure that written pre-authorization documentation is received, when such written documentation is required, in advance of the patient proceeding with care.

What You Bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ years of experience in a professional work environment, Healthcare expereince preffered.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel required.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and utilize the appropriate and correct terminology.
  • Demonstrate adaptability: handle day to day work challenges confidently, willing, and able to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, and demonstrate flexibility.

Working Conditions: The physical demands described here are representative of those which should be met, with or without reasonable accommodation (IAW ADA Guidelines), by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in a professional office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will interact with others, sit/stand at a desk, work on a computer, and spend prolonged periods preparing and analyzing data and figures. Employees will use standard office machines and equipment (computer, telephone, photocopier, and scanner).

CCRM’s Compensation: The salary range represents the national average compensation for this position. The base salary offered will vary based on location, experience, skills, and knowledge. The pay range does not reflect the total compensation package. Our rewards may include an annual bonus, flexible work arrangements, and many other region-specific benefits.
