About the Regional Medical Director (RMD) Role:
The Herself Health Regional Medical Director serves as the local clinical leadership support to the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area primary care offices of Herself Health. This physician leader supports the establishment and implementation of health care policies and standards as directed by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). This leader reports directly to the CMO and ensures the quality of medical care provided to Herself Health patients. This Role requires 3-5 years of managerial experience and 5 years of clinical experience, preferably in primary care.
Essential Functions:
- Executes clinical quality performance policies, procedures, protocols and strategies in partnership with operations, executes and monitors policies, procedures and protocols, once adopted.
- Ensures that all clinical quality programs and initiatives are consistent with the standard of clinical care and evidence-based medicine guidelines
- Reports directly to the CMO and has delegated authority from the CMO on clinical quality performance and all related tasks
- Provides immediate support to local clinicians including escalation management; problem-solving and troubleshooting and day-to-day clinical management. This leader serves as a stop-gap function to ensure timely and effective problem-solving with a solution focused mindset
- Participates in necessary clinical workgroups related to improved clinical efficiency including template design; clinical protocol design etc.
- Will eventually manage the Clinical Site Leads including coaching and development of clinical leadership.
- Supports the CMO in organizational performance in HEDIS, patient satisfaction and other quality indicators
- Ensures accurate and complete documentation of medical diagnoses and appropriate treatment plans
- Works in partnership and collaboration with other clinical leaders to advance the clinical knowledge, experience and practice of Herself Health
- Performs analysis of information necessary for making clinical policy and operational decisions.
- Performs quality reviews, chart audits/assessments of clinicians and creates plans of action, staff training and communication.
- Routinely observes face-to-face encounters between Herself Health clinicians and patients
- Supports clinical leadership in creating and managing corrective action plans including implementation, communication and monitoring for improvement
- Responsible for reporting provider specific clinical measures and providing recommendations to improve quality of care to CMO.
- Assist with developing and training the clinical staff within Herself Health partnering with members across the organization including the Learning and Development Team; Compliance team; Clinical Operations; Tech and Growth Team
- Coordinates with COO and CCO on Risk management activities and supports policies and processes created by CCO.
- Reviews outcome data. Responsible for the delivery of annual quality reports and plans as required.
- Attends all mandatory staff meetings and trainings
- Develops familiarity with EMR to support quality performance
- Maintains a modest clinical practice at Herself Health
- Other duties as directed by CMO
Must-have Qualifications and Skills:
- Licensed MD or DO
- Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with a minimum of 5 years of recent clinical experience
- Proven leadership experience in healthcare settings for a minimum of at least 3 years
- Preferred knowledge of guidelines and implementation of Value-Based Care Programs
- Required resident of Minneapolis-Saint Paul area and willing/able to travel to Herself Health Clinics regularly
- Must have current driver’s license
Nice-to-have Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory position with management and leadership experience
- Geriatrics fellowship or substantial experience in geriatric medicine

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and Excel.
