About the Role:
The Operations Manager, Compounding, is a vital role within our organization, reporting directly to the Sr. Operations Manager, Compounding. This position is responsible for leading a team of compounding professionals and overseeing the daily operations of the compounding department. The successful candidate will ensure that all compounding activities are carried out in strict adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards. This is a hands-on role that requires active engagement in labor management, workflow optimization, and continuous improvement projects. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to achieve operational goals and maintain a high-performing compounding team.
This role is based on site in our New Albany, Ohio facility.
You Will:
Daily Operations Management: Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of compounded products. Monitor progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to maintain optimal workflow.
Team Leadership: Lead and supervise a team of lab managers, pharmacy tech leads, and pharmacy technicians. Provide clear direction, set expectations, and foster a culture of collaboration and accountability. Conduct regular team meetings and 1:1 sessions to track performance, provide feedback, and address any concerns.
Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate existing compounding processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Implement Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, and other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance productivity, minimize waste, and streamline operations.
KPI Tracking & Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, and productivity. Generate regular reports to track progress and identify trends.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all compounding activities comply with USP, FDA, OSHA, and other relevant regulations. Foster a safety-conscious culture by providing training, conducting safety audits, and enforcing safety protocols.
Inventory & Material Handling: Oversee inventory management, ensuring adequate stock levels of compounding materials and proper handling and storage of hazardous and non-hazardous substances.
Collaboration & Problem Solving: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Supply Chain, to address operational challenges, resolve issues, and drive production efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support operational needs and ensure the smooth functioning of the compounding department.
You Have:
Experience: 5-7+ years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical compounding, manufacturing, fulfillment, or a related operational environment. 5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience, managing teams in a fast-paced, regulated setting. 2+ years of experience implementing and maintaining OSHA safety standards.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Pharmacy, Chemistry, Engineering) is preferred but not required. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and operational reporting tools. Strong knowledge of USP 795, USP 800, cGMP, OSHA, and FDA regulations. Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing production needs, and work effectively under pressure. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks, including walking, standing, and bending.
Can work any shift in the Pharmacy/Fulfillment/Compounding teams. H&H is a 24/7 operation.
Sterile & Non-Sterile Compounding: Experience with both sterile and non-sterile compounding procedures is highly desirable.
Hazardous & Non-Hazardous Materials: Knowledge of safe handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials used in compounding processes.
Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and other regulatory requirements governing pharmaceutical compounding.

Conditions of Employment:
This position will require working with Hazardous Drugs (HD) and would require that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) be worn for the length of working with these drugs. These items would include gloves, respiratory protection, gown and other items as required.
This position requires medical approval to wear respiratory protection in the form of negative or positive pressure respirators, including N95, full face respirator, SCBA, or Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).
Physical exertion required. Including, but not limited to, walking up to 50% of the time, standing up to 100% of the time, squatting and bending up to 20% of the time and lifting up to 80% of the time for up to a twelve hour shift. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
Due to the risk of reproductive capability in handling or compounding certain Hazardous Drugs (HD) associates must be willing to confirm that they understand the potential risks (teratogenicity, carcinogenicity and reproductive effects) of handling hazardous drugs.
