We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and mission-driven Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Mobile App Squad. This is a critical leadership role with a specific focus on our iOS and Android mobile app. The ideal candidate will be a technical thought partner, a team builder, and a strategic driver of impactful, customer-centered mobile experiences.
As a Senior EM, you will work closely with product leaders, executive stakeholders, and engineering leadership to align technical direction with company goals. You’ll elevate how we build and scale mobile systems, develop engineering leaders, and influence cross-functional strategy across our growing organization.
This role requires balancing hands-on technical leadership with high-level strategic thinking. Your leadership will help shape the experiences of millions of patients while advancing our engineering culture and operational excellence.
You Will:
Lead and develop a team of engineers across 1 or more mobile squads, fostering a high-performance and inclusive culture.
Coach and mentor engineering teams in Agile, Lean, and DevOps best practices, instilling a culture of iterative delivery, continuous improvement, and shared ownership.
Define technical strategy and execution plans aligned with business goals, focusing on innovation, reliability, scalability, and quality of our mobile platforms.
Drive alignment across squads and cross-functional partners to deliver on key initiatives while managing competing priorities.
Scale mobile architecture and systems with long-term growth and performance in mind, anticipating technical trends and integrating emerging best practices.
Design and implement process improvements, enhancing productivity and delivery velocity.
Champion mobile development standards and ensure robust assurance practices in a modern, agile environment.
Collaborate with product, design, analytics, and other cross-functional partners to influence product roadmaps and customer-centric solutions.
Mentor and develop engineers, with a focus on succession planning, leadership growth, and building a strong technical bench.
Manage staffing strategy across squads, making trade-offs that balance resources, technical debt, and innovation.
Represent mobile engineering in cross-functional and executive-level forums, effectively communicating strategy, status, and trade-offs.
You Have:
10+ years of relevant experience in software engineering, including 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced, product-focused environment.
Proven success leading multiple squads or managing a technical domain.
Deep expertise in modern mobile technologies (React Native, Typescript, iOS/Android best practices), with strong knowledge of web technologies (React, NextJS, GraphQL) a plus.
Demonstrated experience architecting and scaling mobile applications with a focus on performance, maintainability, and user experience.
Strong track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects with measurable business impact.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills—able to translate strategy into clear execution plans.
Adept at balancing speed and quality, and creating a culture of continuous improvement and ownership.
Strategic mindset with strong business acumen and the ability to advocate for technical priorities in organizational-level planning.
Passionate about talent development, fostering inclusive teams, and creating growth paths for engineering leaders.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (advanced degrees or equivalent experience a plus).
