The Position
The role of a Senior Indirect Tax Specialist at Organon is centered around ensuring high-quality and timely delivery of indirect tax processes, with a strong focus on compliance activities and statutory requirements. Here's a summary of the key aspects of this position:
Key role’s aspects:
Global Scope: The role involves working with VAT/GST rules primarily in APAC, but also extends to EMEA, LATAM, and potentially further within the APAC region.
Location: Based in Organon's APAC finance HUB in Kuala Lumpur, reporting to the Indirect Tax lead in Europe.
Independence: Requires a self-starting personality, strong communication skills, high independence, and maturity to take responsibility for own work results.
Responsibilities:
Review indirect tax returns to ensure accurate VAT filing globally.
Support the design and maintenance of compliance controls and processes.
Assist in GST/VAT audits with local finance and shared services teams.
Collaborate with external tax consultants to ensure timely filing.
Build relationships with local finance to manage tax exposures.
Advise support teams on day-to-day indirect tax matters.
Identify opportunities to optimize tax positions and improve compliance processes.
Ensure accuracy, quality, and integrity in all activities.
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
Must haves:
Independent work capability, handling multiple projects and deadlines with remote reporting.
Advanced experience with tax determination logic and IT systems (e.g. SAP S4Hana, Vertex, Alteryx).
Fluency in English; additional language skills are advantageous.
5+ years of indirect tax experience or 7+ years in accounting with international exposure.
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
Master/bachelor’s degree in international tax law, fiscal/business economics, or accounting preferred.
Proved APAC tax compliance experience, with EMEA experience as an advantage.
Experience in providing services across multiple markets and time zones.
Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and knowledge of best practices.
