Job Description

The position

The TA Lead is responsible for managing a professional Field Medical Team team (MSLs) to generate an outstanding performance in the defined therapeutic area. He/she is required to support the Country Medical Director on medical strategy/plan, product positioning and differentiation, life-cycle management, new product launch and product crisis management as well as defined therapeutic area cross-function collaboration, scientific exchange and relationship maintain with TA related Health Care Professionals (HCPs)/ Scientific Leaders (SLs) / Key Decision Makers (KDMs)/Societies, budget control and talent development.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the country medial affairs plan (CMAP) aligned with brand strategy and accordance with unbiased scientific platform.

  • Responsible for the whole team performance and creating team vision and high-performance culture

  • Responsible for the quality of country medical strategy in defined therapeutic area, both national and regional.

  • Responsible for the whole team budget management and effective utilization of resources.

  • Responsible for the quality of scientific exchange of medical team with external customers

  • Responsible for the medical execution of actionable medical insights.

  • Ensures high standard medical compliance and governance

  • Ensures medical events adhere to company compliance policy with non-promotional nature.

  • Responsible for leading the medical team to identify medical opportunities and medical solutions in current trends of diagnosis, existing/emerging treatment options, and unmet medical needs to contribute to new product launch, product positioning and differentiation, mature product’s life cycle management, product crisis management, reimbursement, listing, bidding and market access, etc.

  • Leads the medical team by proactively providing medical support on guidance/consensus generation or updating in defined therapeutic area based on request or needs from external customers.

  • Defines TA specific HCPs/SLs/KDMs scientific exchange objectives and establishes evaluable measurements on annual performance for his/her direct-reports.

  • Leads the medical team to collaborate with external customers and cross-functions to engage local data generation and other studies in defined therapeutic area.

  • Provides input on optimizing medical department’s process and actively engaging in medical excellence projects.

  • Continuously explores for the innovative way to maximize medical value to company and patients in defined therapeutic area.

Scientific and Technical Leadership:

  • Communicate scientific therapy needs credibly, appropriately, and effectively across a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

  • Build trust with the external scientific community via peer-to-peer scientific exchange, research and educational collaborations, interactions with scientific societies and health organizations, publications, etc.

  • Provide therapeutic/functional training to assigned teams and affiliate functions.

  • Develop and help execute country medical educational programs and symposia.

  • Lead country Advisory Boards and Expert Input Forums in line with strategy.

  • Participate in and contribute significantly to professional organizations, academic or regulatory working teams.

  • Provide scientific inputs for digital initiatives.

Medical Strategy and Therapy Leadership:

  • Translate Global Medical Strategies into research, data analysis, scientific communication, educational, and other tactics and solutions that improve patient outcomes and enhance access in the country.

  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration between field and Medical through providing scientific and medical support to the Commercial team.

  • Evaluate accuracy of promotional materials.

  • Provide Medical Affairs therapeutic area support through engaging with SLs/KDMs, driving scientific initiatives and supporting the field force.

  • Collect, analyze, and communicate actionable insights at the country level.

  • Provide scientific inputs for digital initiatives.

  • Successfully collaborate, provide scientific inputs, and lead resolution of Regulatory queries/issues.

  • Support execution of and quickly adapt tactical plans to business realities in country.

  • Act with ethics and integrity; Provide non-promotional, balanced, reliable and scientific information.

  • Support with therapy training content for Sales team.

  • Demonstrate strategic thinking, specifically related to asset value proposition, and clinical and value evidence.

  • Support creation of Medical Affairs Plans along with the TA and Country Medical Leads.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar position (TA Lead/Medical Manager) or in a people management role within the Medical Team.

  • In addition, a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Advisor is required.

  • Relevant experience in other Medical Affairs positions within the pharmaceutical industry will be highly valued.

  • Preferably: previous experience in Medical Affairs in the therapeutic area (NEUROLOGY).

  • Medical degree or PhD in Health Sciences is required.

  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

  • Ability to travel at least 30%, including attendance at congresses, internal meetings, and visits to various stakeholders.
