Senior Specialist Global Trade Compliance & Risk Management
Purpose of the role
In this global role, you will strengthen the Global Trade Compliance team by embedding a structured trade compliance risk management framework, elevating customs valuation governance, and integrating AI-driven analytics into global import/export operations. Reporting to the Associate Director Global Trade Compliance (GTC), you will operate at the intersection of Supply Chain, Finance & TAX, Business Technology, Transportation and Procurement, ensuring robust compliance with international trade laws while minimizing regulatory, financial, and reputational risk.
This is a global remote position (NL, BE, PT, ES, IRL preferred).

Global Trade Compliance (GTC) is part of SCM Supply Chain Operations and acts as the guardian of compliant, secure, and seamless global trade flows.
The Global Trade Compliance’ team mission is to deliver:

- Advanced data analytics & building towards AI-enabled compliance monitoring
- Predictive compliance controls
The team consists of 1 Associate Director and 3 Senior Specialists operating globally.
Main responsibilities
Trade Compliance risk management & governance
- Design and enhance the Global Trade Compliance risk framework
- Conduct structured risk assessments across import/export flows
- Identify exposure in export controls, sanctions, customs valuation, HS-classification and origin
- Translate regulatory changes into actionable mitigation plans
- Strengthening internal control structures and compliance assurance programs
- Support audit readiness and regulatory inspections
Customs Valuation expertise
- Act as Subject Matter Expert in WTO Customs Valuation
- Govern valuation risks incl. intercompany pricing, royalties, assists, transfer pricing adjustments
- Strengthen customs valuation programs to ensure alignment with tax and finance
- Support customs audits and manage valuation-related inquiries
- Implement valuation governance best practices globally
AI-Driven Trade Compliance & data analytics
- Drive implementation and optimization of AI-powered denied party screening
- Improve HS classification accuracy through machine learning tools
- Use analytics to detect trade compliance anomalies and risk patterns
- Contribute to predictive compliance dashboards and KPIs
- Partner with IT to enhance automation within trade compliance systems
Operational excellence & continuous improvement
- Optimize global import/export policies and standards
- Champion global alignment across regions and business units
- Drive 100% compliance while increasing process efficiency
- Enable business optimization through world-class trade practices
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with Business Technology, Finance, Tax, Regional Trade Compliance teams, Transportation & Operations
- Act as strategic advisor to regional trade compliance teams
- Provide training and awareness on trade compliance risk exposure
- Elevate trade compliance maturity across the organization
Your Profile
You combine deep technical trade compliance expertise with a strong risk-based mindset and digital curiosity.
Experience & Background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Trade, Tax, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Law
- 5+ years of experience in Global Trade Compliance
- Strong experience in:
- Customs Valuation
- HS Classification
- Preferential Origin
- Denied Party Screening, Sanctions & Export Controls
- Experience in pharmaceuticals, medical devices preferred
- Experience with AI-enabled compliance solutions is highly valued
