Ro is a direct-to-patient healthcare company with a mission of helping patients achieve their health goals by delivering the easiest, most effective care possible. Ro is the only company to offer nationwide telehealth, labs, and pharmacy services. This is enabled by Ro's vertically integrated platform that helps patients achieve their goals through a convenient, end-to-end healthcare experience spanning from diagnosis, to delivery of medication, to ongoing care. Since 2017, Ro has helped millions of patients, including one in every county in the United States, and in 98% of primary care deserts.
Ro has been recognized as a Fortune Best Workplace in New York and Health Care for four consecutive years (2021-2024). In 2023, Ro was also named Best Workplace for Parents for the third year in a row. In 2022, Ro was listed as a CNBC Disruptor 50.
About the role
As a Design Director on our team, you’ll help shape how Ro shows up in the world. You’ll concept, design, and craft campaigns that feel bold, human, and unmistakably ours. This role calls for a hands-on creative leader with deep experience in design, art direction, and visual storytelling — someone who can think conceptually, execute beautifully, and stretch what healthcare can look and feel like.
You’ll join a team of creative craftspeople driven by purpose. We care about making healthcare feel modern, accessible, and gutsy. We build empathy for our users, challenge assumptions, and design with honesty.
We’re looking for a design leader who’s ready to build data-informed brand campaigns that connect emotionally and perform powerfully. Someone who moves fast, experiments boldly, and believes simplicity is the ultimate expression of confidence.
This role is an individual contributor working alongside the broader design organization and growth partners.

What you’ll do

  • Be hands-on. You’ll concept and design alongside the team. At Ro we are all makers.
  • Elevate the brand. You’ll evolve Ro’s visual brand world, ensuring it remains flexible, scalable, and future-facing while staying true to us.
  • Results-driven mindset. We work hand-in-hand with growth and analytics teams to harness data insights, building a performance-oriented culture that prioritizes achieving tangible results together.
  • Champion creative excellence. You’ll set the visual bar across all brand work — campaigns, product marketing, CRM, landing pages, paid, OOH, and TV — ensuring every piece ladders up to a cohesive, modern, and differentiated brand experience.
  • Collaborate across teams. You’ll work daily with creative, growth, product, and marketing leaders to align strategy, priorities, and execution.
  • Shape campaigns. You’ll define the art direction and visual strategy for top-of-funnel campaigns, working closely with copy partners to bring bold ideas to life across channels.
  • Mentor through craft. While this is an individual contributor role, you’ll inspire and guide other designers by example — modeling great design thinking, sharp taste, and thoughtful feedback.
  • Advocate for inclusivity. You’ll continuously prioritize diversity, inclusion, and representation in your work, bringing empathy and intention to each design choice you make.

What you’ll bring

  • World-class design craft. You obsess over the details: every pixel, frame, and composition. You bring taste, refinement, and a sharp eye for balance, typography, and storytelling.
  • A challenger mindset. You’re not afraid to push the brand visually, tonally, and conceptually. You think beyond a brand book and know that the best brands evolve through bold exploration.
  • Conceptual strength. You can turn a strategy into a big visual idea, and a big idea into a cohesive system that works across every touchpoint, from campaign to CRM.
  • Speed and adaptability. You move fast, iterate often, and know when to polish. You understand how to balance creative ambition with business impact and timelines.
  • Variation as exploration. You generate range early and often. You can stretch tone, mood, and form to find new creative territory, while knowing how to bring it back to something that feels undeniably Ro.
  • An eye on evolution. You know that staying relevant means constantly moving the work forward. You stay attuned to culture, tech, and design trends, and translate them into fresh, meaningful expressions for the brand.
  • Creative tools and innovation. You’re fluent in Figma and use AI tools like Nano Banana, Weavy, and others as part of your creative process. You stay curious about new ways to concept, design, and prototype faster. Familiarity with 3D tools like Blender is a bonus.
  • Collaborative energy and no ego. You believe the best ideas come from building together. You’re generous with feedback, great in a jam session, and comfortable presenting and aligning across teams. The team’s win is your win. You have a team-owning mindset, not an individual-owning one.
  • Iterative excellence. You see feedback as fuel, not friction. You know how to refine, sharpen, and elevate a good idea into something great.
  • Care and empathy. You care deeply about the work and the people it helps. You design with intention, inclusion, and impact in mind.
  • Experience and leadership. 10+ years in Design and at least 5 years as a Creative Director or Design Director, leading campaign work at a high level across both agency and in-house environments.
We welcome qualified candidates of all races, creeds, genders, and sexuality to apply.
The target base salary for this position ranges from $173,000 to $203,000, in addition to a competitive equity and benefits package (as applicable).
