And we’ve done this before - our executive team has had 11 exits and 3 IPOs to date.
The Position: VP of Engineering
We’re looking for a VP of Engineering to lead our fast growing technology team. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-paced startup and make a significant impact on our growth trajectory.
Requirements:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- 8-15 years of engineering leadership experience, with at least 5+ years in senior leadership roles (Director/VP level)
- Proven track record of scaling engineering and leading teams
- Ability to translate business/product requirements into technical strategy and communicate effectively with C-suite and board members. Comfortable as a public-facing leader representing technology to customers, partners, and investors
Scaling & Organizational Design
- Experience implementing engineering processes, methodologies, and culture at scale (Agile/Scrum, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines).
- Familiarity with modern performance and quality frameworks (e.g., DORA, SPACE) to measure and improve delivery.
- Track record of building and structuring multiple engineering teams (backend, frontend, mobile, data, DevOps/platform) for maximum effectiveness
- Experience hiring, developing, promoting and retaining senior engineering talent and engineering managers
- Knowledge of, and experience implementing, compensation frameworks, performance review systems, and career progression paths
Industry-Specific Expertise
- Deep understanding of regulatory requirements (HIPAA, SOC2, PCI DSS) and security frameworks, and experience leading IT and security functions at scale. (Nice to have: lending regulatory expertise, TILA, UDAAP, etc.)
- Experience with healthcare data standards and financial services compliance
- Knowledge of audit processes and working with compliance teams
- Understanding of data privacy regulations and their technical implications
Technical Architecture & Scalability
- Experience architecting systems for high availability, security, and scalability
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and scalable distributed systems
- Experience building an engineering culture that enforces code reviews, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and automated testing as core principles.
- Experience building data platforms, pipelines, and modeling infrastructure that scale; ability to integrate AI/ML capabilities responsibly into products and operations.
- Experience with disaster recovery, incident management, and post-mortem processes
- Collaborate with other technical staff to ensure consistent and smooth DevOps workflows
- Manage multiple projects within reasonable design specifications and budget restrictions
- Conduct code peer reviews, and have your code reviewed by your peers
IT & Security Leadership
- Experience with managing IT operations, enterprise systems, and internal tooling
- Ability to instill best practices in security posture, risk management, and compliance across the company
- Partner with compliance and legal to prepare for audits and regulatory reviews
Business Acumen
- Experience producing large outcomes through collaboration with product, design, and business stakeholders
