The Director of Laboratory Development plays a vital role in the national development of laboratories in states in where Unified Women’s Healthcare has physician practices under the direction and guidance of the Senior Director of Laboratory Development as well as special projects in existing laboratories.

• Assist in the design, development, and implementation of Next Generation Sequencing laboratories, primarily NIPT through tech transfer partnerships
• Direct and mentor laboratory development team members to ensure transfer of knowledge and appropriate training.
• Utilize all available resources to determine customer needs and develop market strategies and goals for company services.
• Drive business development activities of products with end-users through educating and building relationships.
• Support existing business and pursue new placement opportunities with the goal of creating incremental growth through direct and indirect activities.
• Methodically follow up on developing leads.
• Maintain up-to-date understanding of industry trends, government regulations, and technical developments that effect target markets.
• Develop and deliver presentations in a professional and effective manner.
• Consistently meet established revenue goals.
• Develop and maintain communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of staff and customers.
• Hire supervisory personnel for new laboratories.
• Arrange for purchase or by rental reagent agreement acquisition of laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Act as a liaison between Unified Women’s Healthcare and regional contacts, traveling as needed to develop relationships and ensure oversight of ongoing projects.

• Previous experience with Next Generation Sequencing laboratory development and Genetic department start-ups required
• Experience implementing NIPT through a tech transfer model is strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in medical technology, chemical, or biological science
• Minimum 10+ years’ laboratory experience to include at least 5+ years in a laboratory supervisory role
• Knowledge of applicable regulatory and accreditation standards, rules, and guidelines
• Strong skills for organization, planning, decision-making, and facilitating process improvement
• Exceptional communication skills / professional presence with ability to lead and drive change
• Strong customer orientation and ability to foster long term customer relationships
