Reproductive Medicine Associates of New York, one of the country's top fertility centers, is recruiting for a Cryo Operations Coordinator for our RMA offices.

The Embryology Cryo Operations Coordinator is responsible for assisting with daily operations for the Cryogenic Storage Laboratory and Embryology Laboratory. Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to, receiving and managing inventory of oocyte and embryos, maintaining clean and organized inventory records, managing specimen distribution and shipment to external and partner labs, managing oocyte and embryo discards, monitoring the function of multiple bulk storage tanks, working with an emergency response team and working with the frozen embryo disposition team.

Additionally, this position is responsible for improving the operational efficiency and safety protocols governing onsite operations including but not limited to process improvement, workflow review and optimization, systems evaluation and implementation, SOP development, training development and rollout.

In addition to the daily duties, special projects may be assigned to help with development needs and business growth opportunities.

We have an immediate opening for a Cryo Operations Coordinator to join our New York team. The salary for this role is $65k annually.

How You'll Contribute:

We always do whatever it takes, even if it isn’t specifically our “job.” In general, the Cryo Operations Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Work with the frozen embryo disposition team on logistics for specimen transports from inquiry through transport completion
  • Freezer facility management, including specimen acquisition from external labs, distribution to other sites, inventory record management, sample organization, responding to system alarms during normal working hours
  • Maintenance, validation, and audits of on-site tanks
  • Communicate with the embryology management team regarding storage capacity and need for additional storage tanks
  • Manage dewar and canister eligibility determinations – reassign and organize move projects as necessary
  • Manage bulk shipments to and from long term storage in coordination with the embryology department and clinical teams
  • Receiving, cataloguing and maintaining accuracy of records in inventory management system
  • Ordering supplies and equipment as authorized, and monitors needs to ensure continuous supply as required to maintain safe operations
  • Ensuring that safe laboratory practices are always followed
  • Organize and manage the discard of oocytes and embryos consented for discard through PGT consents or direct discard consents
  • Prepare and maintain transportation and laboratory equipment
  • Triage and assign caseloads to self and support staff
  • Respond to patient inquiries in coordination with the frozen embryo disposition team
  • Assist with patient document needs
  • Communicate with outside couriers and vendors
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring:

  • Requires an Associate’s degree at minimum, Bachelor’s degree preferred; major area of Biology preferred
  • At least 6 months of medical laboratory or Cryo lab experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Interpersonal communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Proficiency in a variety of computer software applications in word processing, database, and presentation software (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Multi-tasking abilities: Self-starter that adapts well to change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Knowledge of laboratory best practices and handling laboratory equipment
  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot
  • Can quickly and effectively respond to situations
  • Data entry and record keeping accuracy
  • Strong customer service and results orientation; highly responsive to requests
  • Proven ability to build and maintain highly effective teams
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn at all times
