The Authorization & Collections Account Specialist is responsible for managing insurance authorization requests, claim submissions, charge postings, denial resolution, and account follow-ups to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement for cryo-storage services. This role will also oversee collections pre-listing, conduct account investigations, and work closely with internal departments and external insurance representatives to resolve outstanding issues and maintain smooth revenue cycle operations.

We are seeking a full-time Cryopreservation Billing Specialist to the billing department at Luminary Life Sciences. The schedule is working Monday through Friday, daytime hours, 8:00am - 5:00pm CST.

The pay range in $25 to $26 per hour

How You'll Contribute: We always do whatever it takes, even if it isn't specifically our "job." In general, the Cryopreservation Administrative Associate is responsible for:

  • Submit and track insurance authorization requests for cryo-storage services.
  • Monitor pending authorizations and follow up with insurance carriers to prevent delays.
  • Accurately post charges and submit claims to payers.
  • Conduct timely follow-ups on unadjudicated and unpaid claims.
  • Run monthly reports to identify upcoming insurance renewals and initiate necessary actions.
  • Coordinate and attend meetings with insurance representatives to ensure timely authorizations and payments.
  • Run monthly denial reports and analyze payer trends.
  • Work denials by correcting, resubmitting, or appealing claims as appropriate.
  • Adjust accounts in accordance with denial findings and payer requirements.
  • Provide feedback to leadership and other departments to prevent recurring denials.
  • Review and investigate accounts flagged for collections.
  • Perform pre-listing reviews to confirm accounts meet criteria for collections.
  • Collaborate with collections agencies when accounts are approved for transfer.
  • Communicate with patients and insurance companies as needed to resolve outstanding balances.
  • Work directly with other internal departments (e.g., billing, patient services, operations) to resolve account discrepancies.
  • Provide monthly and ad hoc reporting to management on claim status, denials, collections, and authorization trends.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce claim denials or delays.

What You'll Bring:

The skills and education we need are:

  • High School Diploma acceptable with appropriate hands-on experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in healthcare preferred
  • Billing, collection and fertility experience preferred
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Excellent spreadsheet skills
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieves information from a computer. Medical software program experience required.
  • Knowledge of office procedure and office machines (i.e. computer, fax, copier, etc.).
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong customer service and results orientation; highly responsive to requests.
