Opportunity Overview

We have an immediate opening for a Senior Embryologist to join our team at Shady Grove Fertility in Rockville, Maryland.

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM with weekend and holiday rotations
  • Compensation: $100K to $130K (commensurate with experience)

In this role, the Senior Embryologist will:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in all technical areas of the laboratory services and procedures:
    • Identification, assessment and culture of oocytes
    • Sperm preparation and insemination of oocytes
    • Embryo culture
    • Assessment and selection of embryos for transfer
    • Embryo Vitrification, storage and warming
    • Media preparation
    • Oocyte Vitrification, storage and warming
    • Recording and reporting laboratory results
    • TBSA, PESA, TESA, TESE collection
    • Oocyte denuding & ICSI insemination
    • PGD biopsy (optional)
    • Achieve level of proficiency in all areas of the lab that allow for multitasking, training of junior staffers, and high productivity
  • Must be certified to work independently in the following laboratory processes and procedures:
    • Preparation and care of gametes/embryos throughout the laboratory process: IVF, ICSI, VIT, ET, Thaw, PGD.
    • Diagnostic TBSA and preparations for ICSI
    • OR procedures including retrievals, Urology sperm collections, and embryo transfer
    • Accurate entry of data and able to extract and interpret data
    • Embryo discard/storage, including paperwork and follow-up
    • Donor sperm/embryo tracking under FDA regulations

  • Must develop competency in more complex reproductive technologies, i.e. ICSI, PGD, and oocytes VIT.

Qualifications and Skills Include:

    • Minimum 5 years clinical/medical laboratory experience, preferably in Embryology.
    • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant laboratory science; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Must demonstrate the ability to function effectively without direct supervision, and to perform laboratory services in accord with the Laboratory Philosophy and Operating Standards.
    • Proven ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
    • Knowledge of office procedures and office machines
    • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    • Ability to work in a high standard, stressful environment.
    • Ability to communicate accurately and concisely.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
