Opportunity Overview

We have an immediate opening for a OR/PACU RN Team Lead to join our team at Reproductive Science Center of the San Francisco Bay Area in San Ramon, California. This position will float to Menlo Park, California as needed.

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM; one weekend per month; two holiday rotations per year
  • Compensation: $70 to $75 per hour (commensurate with experience)

In this role, the OR/PACU RN Team Lead will:

  • Foster quality patient services and clinical operations by communicating with staff and physicians.
  • Ensure adequate and appropriate ASC & clinical staffing coverage to provide the highest quality patient care and services.
  • Maintain a high standard of staff performance by coaching and counseling employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the effective delivery of all patient services by regularly monitoring patient flow and program operations.
  • Responsible for assisting with the coordination and training/orientation of new ASC & clinical staff.
  • Create, update and revise ASC & clinical procedures, protocols, and policies in collaboration with the Clinical Operations Director
  • Support the Quality Assessment and Improvement process.
  • Serves as a resource for questions and issues related to a range of ASC & clinical issues.
  • Monitors preoperative statistics, i.e., number of cases, procedures, patients, complications (i.e., infection, bleeding)
  • Reviews OR schedules for completeness, correctness, appropriate flow, etc.
  • Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual.
  • Counsels’ patients on initial visits regarding infertility and/or ART treatment, coordinates treatment
  • Perform comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments and develops individualized patient care plans
  • Verify patient identity, informed consent, procedure, surgical site, allergies, laboratory results, and required documentation prior to surgery
  • Establish and maintain peripheral intravenous access and administers medications and IV fluids in accordance with physician orders and facility policy
  • Provide skilled perioperative nursing care while assisting physicians and anesthesia providers during surgical procedures
  • Demonstrate proficiency in caring for patients receiving monitored anesthesia care (MAC), general anesthesia, and conscious sedation
  • Monitor patients throughout the perioperative and recovery phases, recognizing and responding appropriately to changes in patient condition
  • Perform ongoing pain assessments and provides interventions to promote patient comfort and safety
  • Deliver comprehensive discharge instructions and patient education to patients and support person(s)
  • Provides emotional support and reassurance to patients and families throughout the surgical experience
  • Collects, labels, documents, and transports specimens according to facility protocols
  • Accurately documents all patient assessments, interventions, medications, and outcomes within the electronic medical record

What You’ll Bring

Qualifications and Skills Include:

  • Active RN license
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • 2 to 3 years clinical experience in Operating/Procedure Room or PACU experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in reproductive medicine or women's health preferred
  • Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of both the San Ramon and Menlo Park Ambulatory Surgery Centers.
  • Strong technical and clinical assessment skills
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment
  • Ability to communicate accurately and concisely
